THE GREAT ENJOYMENT AND SATISFACTION FROM BEING IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD

Enhancing Being in the Presence of The Lord Series

A – INTRODUCTION.

One of the most profound verses in the Bible is MATTHEW 18:20 – “For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers] in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them.” PLEASE GRASP THAT – I AM – THE LORD JESUS CHRIST – THE PRESENCE OF ALMIGHTY GOD – IS RIGHT HERE IN OUR PRESENCE.

Recently, a very well known and highly respected national/international prophetic intercessor made a declaration that there is an appointed time to take place of The Presence of God Movement.

That appointed time is now, and not just in a once-a-week or once-a-month gathering or occasional secret place time, but daily.

While in the presence of The Lord, He wants us to thoroughly enjoy being with Him and experience Him in profound and revelatory ways, and be completely satisfied.

Under the guidance and anointing of The Holy Spirit, we want to walk you through some Bible verses about being in the presence of The Lord, asking The Holy Spirit to impact you in a very strong way.

B – WHAT TO EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE WHILE IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD.

PSALM 65:4a, “How blessed is the one whom Thou dost choose, and bring near to thee, to dwell in Thy courts.”

We are chosen of God, according to the good pleasure (enjoyment) of His will, and this alone is blessedness (happiness). The Lord works graciously in us and attracts us powerfully by His Holy Spirit into His intimate presence to enjoy Him.

Worship. The Christian’s Highest Occupation by A.P. Gibbs, “When a believer in Jesus Christ enters into His presence, with his/her heart possessing an equal measure of remembrance, gratitude, reverence, and amazement of Who The Lord God is, what He has done, and what He will do for those who really love Him – there will undoubtedly rise from the center of the believer’s soul, a silver stream of humble, reverent, sincere and adoring worship to Triune God which will greatly minister to Him, and thus He will respond to the believer with that which will result in great fulfillment and satisfaction in and for the believer.”

ENTERING INTO HIS PRESENCE – PSALM 63:1, “Earnestly will I seek You.” EARNEST – ardent (having warm affections for) and zealous (enthusiastic) in the pursuit of.

WHILE IN HIS PRESENCE, A REVELATION OF HIM OF LASTING IMPACT – PSALM 63:2, “So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.”

THE GREAT SATISFACTION OF BEING IN HIS PRESENCE – PSALM 63:5a, “My whole being shall be satisfied.”

PSALM 114:7, “Tremble (be moved, shaken), O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.”

To tremble while in the presence of The Lord is to have reverential awe and worshipful fear of and toward the Lord – which is:

#1 – Characterized by intensity of FEELING – PSALM 18:1, “I love You fervently and devotedly, O Lord.” FERVENTLY – hot and glowing. DEVOTEDLY – strongly attached to.

#2 – Having a deep ADORATION toward The Lord Jesus Christ, expressing INTENSE devotion and honor. Philippians\ 3:10a, “For my determined purpose is, that I may know Him [that I may PROGRESSIVELY become more deeply and INTIMATELY acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing the wonders of His Person more strongly and clearly.”

#3 – Having a deep and SATURATING reverence toward God (thoroughly soaked with that reverence) that is inspired by Who He is, and having a reverent wonder inspired by His LOFTINESS – ISAIAH 6:1-2, “In the year that King Uzziah died, [in a vision] I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train (robe) filled the [the most holy part of the] temple. Above Him stood the seraphim.”

Charles Spurgeon: “Isaiah beheld the glorious attendants (the seraphim) who perpetually give great honor and respect to The Lord while nearest to His throne, waiting to know His pleasure and ready for any errand. The seraphim furnish us with a pattern for Christian service. But let us especially note that the seraphim were burning ones, for such is the meaning of the word seraphim. These messengers of the great King are creatures of fire, ablaze with fervency; all glowing and shining, they worship Him.”

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:10, “My beloved speaks and says to me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Then in verse 14, “So I went with him.”

The Lord wants us to experience an intimate adventurous journey with Him while in His presence. A definition of adventurous is: a stirring, thrilling, enthusiastic experience, and filled with excitement.

“RISE UP!” The Lord here speaks to us to rise up from any slumber, laziness, weariness, depression, disaster, hurt, and hearken after Him. THE LORD OFFERS TO HELP US “RISE UP” FROM WHATEVER MAY TRY AND KEEP US DOWN, OR TRY AND KEEP US FROM ENJOYING HIM TO THE FULLEST.

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:6, “I can feel his left hand under my head

and his right hand embraces me!”

It is the left hand of God under our heads that sustains and supports us when the billows are running high and the winds are contrary and raging. Without that lifting up of our head and support with the Lord’s left hand, we would not beckon to His call to “Rise up” and come away with Him!

Then the right hand of His embrace is the hand of manifest grace, inward love, and joy in Christ, the smile of approval, the hand with which He surrounds with His love.

Then our Heavenly Bridegroom says to us: “AND COME AWAY (WITH HIM)!”

The Lord is calling His us to get away from our busyness, our self wants, our world focus, even our ministry focus – and come and enjoy being in His presence.

We hardly realize that every time Christ calls us and we refuse Him, whether we say it with our lips or our actions, we really say, “I choose this person or event or even myself and what I want, instead of Christ.”

There are times when He offers us something, and in the place of rising up and leaving everything so that we can enter in and possess that which He shows us, we fail to enter in; we choose our own ease and our own wills in the place of His.

It is when we first hear His voice, that we must rise up and get away to meet him. God is ever moving on, and if we delay, His voice will grow fainter and fainter, so that when we do finally arise to go to Him, we may not find Him.

There are many who have heard the Lord’s voice calling them to arise, and they have arisen a little, but they have not “come away” to meet Him, and have fallen down again in slumber.

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:14 – “So I went with Him.” Where? Into his presence. AND TO DO WHAT? To allow Him to enjoy me (READ REST OF VERSE 14); and for us to enjoy Him according to PSALM 27:4.

Matthew Henry Commentary: “Those that truly desire communion with God will set themselves with all diligence to seek after it. David would dwell in God’s house, not for the plenty of good entertainment that was there, in the feasts upon the sacrifices, nor for the music and good singing that were there, but to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple. He knew something of the beauty of the Lord, the infinite well pleasing of the divine being and perfections; His holiness in His beauty; His goodness in His beauty.”

ACTS 2:28, Amplified Bible, “You have made known to me the ways of life; You will enrapture me [diffusing – my soul with joy] with and in Your presence.” The Lord makes known to us all His ordained ways of life all through the Bible. Revelation comes as we read and study the Bible while in the presence of The Lord.“

You will ENRAPTURE me” – to experience delight beyond measure.

“DIFFUSING my soul” – to have that joy spread throughout one’s entire being. Words cannot truly express the fullest meaning of this diffusing experience that comes from being in the presence of The Lord. That happened to Jesus’ disciples at Pentecost-

ACTS 2:4, “And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit.”

That happens to every Christian who gets baptized with The Holy Spirit, even though some may not realize that experience at the time. It is of the utmost importance to realize this aspect of being baptized with and filled with The Holy Spirit.

C – IN CONCLUSION:

WE MUST PREPARE TO ENTER INTO THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD

The keys to experiencing the real presence of The Lord is to come into His presence PREPARED to meet with Him.

ESTHER 5:1-3a.

Esther went all out to prepare to enter into the presence of her earthly king; we are to prepare to enter into the presence of the King of kings. Esther put on her royal robes, and here are some “royal garments” for us to put on as we enter into the presence of King Jesus.

First – a garment of singular desire for and focus on King Jesus – note Psalm 27:4 (especially in Amplified Bible).

Second – a garment of desire to be intimate with Him – note Philippians 3:10a (especially in Amplified Bible).

Third – a garment of real praise and worship – note2 Chronicles 5:11-14 (especially in Amplified Bible..

Worship, The Christian’s Highest Occupation: “Worship is the overflow of a grateful heart, under a sense of Divine favor; the outpouring of a soul at rest in the presence of God. That is to say the worshipper is in the full consciousness and enjoyment of his assurance of perfect acceptance before God, through the Person of Jesus Christ. Worship is the occupation of the heart, not with its needs or even with its blessings, but with God Himself. Worship is the upspring of the heart that has known the Father as a Giver, the Son as Savior, and the Holy Spirit as the indwelling Guest.”

LUKE 10:38-42.

We are to prepare to come into the presence of The Lord by laying aside our busy thoughts and actions, and prepare to hear and receive from Him. That’s what Mary did. Spurgeon: “As soon as she saw Jesus come into the house, she thought, What a privilege have I now to listen eagerly to such a teacher, and to treasure up His precious words! He is the Son of God, I will worship, I will adore, and every word He utters shall be stored in my memory. Mary treasured every word of Christ and counted each syllable a pearl. Her faith saw the inner glory which dwelt within Him, and she was so overpowered with reverence, and so wrapt (caught up) in devout wonder, that she became oblivious of all outward things.”

Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest: “The reality of God’s presence is not dependent on any place, but only dependent upon the determination to set the Lord always before us.”

BELOVED!

ENJOY BEING IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD!
